This online unit was the first online unit I have ever done throughout my whole 4 years of university. I decided to do this unit in my final semester of university and I wouldn't have it any other way. This unit has really helped me open my eyes to the various learning spaces in particular the e-space in which we utilised for this subject. I have enjoyed this unit that much that my action research question was based on the learning spaces as I wanted to further my studies and link it to literature. I couldn't of done this without Adam Staples as he was the one who was always there to answer our questions and guide us step by step through the process.

What impacts do learning spaces have on your practice?
Each learning space is unique and therefore, many different learning experiences can occur. With this said, each learning space has a great impact on my teaching practices as they each enable me to educate students in differing ways. For example, learning beyond the classroom allows for the students to link to real life experiences as well as students have the freedom to work outdoors and not in a traditional classroom setting. What do you think the learning spaces of the future might entail? I believe the learning spaces of the future will include open learning and freedom education that is individually directed and students are able to facilitate their own learning. As a result of EDFD459, what are you going to be taking into your own classroom? I will be taking into my own classroom my knowledge for each learning space and the way in which they work. In particular, my knowledge for the liminal space will be useful when dealing with struggling students. The UN is estimating that at least half of the Syrian refugees are under 18. This is a shocking statistic especially when considering the future impact this will have on their lives and education. As future teachers we will need to take these children and other refugee children into consideration not only with our planning but also our classrooms.
I am quite interested in girls education as well as the Zaatari Refugee camp. I love all creative arts subjects therefore I am excited to see what I'm going to come up with for my FLS. My AT2 assignment which will link you to prezi.
Below are my AHA moments as well as challenging moments.
Trusting myself – In the very beginning of this course, I struggled to keep up to date with tasks until I actually planned ahead and left a day to examine the content of the week as well as completing the tasks. I am finding this unit very enjoyable and I am in the process of competing my action research assignment based on the learning space, as it appeals to me and I want to examine it in depth. Being involved in a COP – This unit allows us to communicate with a wide range of people that all have unique ideas that they have come up with. When I read my peers posts in forums and questions, I approach the designated task differently as it broadens my understanding and my approach to tasks. Challenging moment- Keeping up with all forums and what other people post. I have found that I skim through the daily emails about everyone's posts in the forums and I pinpoint valuable information as well as key points. This strategy seems to work well with me.
What is a PLN?
PLN stands for a Personal Learning Network and this is where someone has developed their own network that shares all their resources and ideas. Other people who are interested in that topic can follow and share their ideas. Three useful PLN's include:
https://au.pinterest.com
This PLN is another great resource that is utilised in many areas as you share ideas and you can pin them and come back to them later on
https://www.teacherspayteachers.com
This PLN is for teachers to share, sell and buy teacher resources from other teachers ideas. I find this a great resource as it gives you further insight and it allows you to share your own work if you feel like it will benefit other teachers and students
https://yammer.com
This is a social media website which is similiar to Twitter however you just sign in and subscribe to whatever group your intrested in and you are able to share, like and comment on ideas
